January is probably our hottest month and with my studio facing west it gets very hot so I have had very little time where it has been cool enough to work...
It is also tricky to manage the drying of pieces... if they dry too quickly they are likely to crack...
I threw these dog bowls as demonstration pieces before Christmas. I have now decorated them but am waiting for more pots to be ready before I fire them.
Once completed they will be donated to Assistance Dogs Australia on behalf of the Port Hacking Potters Group.

nice dog bowls; it's freezing here, if you have a west facing window, have you heard of koolaroo fabric, putting a shade on the outside of the building would really help, we had a house in California with windows facing west and we lowered them when the sun hit them and it really helped.
Hi Linda
Thanks... it's hard to imagine being cold - we are running fans at night to try to get some sleep. Thanks for the suggestion on the blinds idea. My room is also under a concrete deck so it is heat from that as well as the afternoon sun.. never mind some milder weather on the way for a few days at least so that should help.
There are going to be some very fortunate dogs eating from those bowls. Very nice indeed! 🐕 💕
You can’t work because your studio is too hot; I can’t because mine is too cold, current temp 42F.
Still I will take heat over cold any day so I am a bit envious! 🤭
Those are delightful dog bowls.
Bleah at the heat.
Hi Suzi hopefully the dog owners will appreciate the bowls :) 42F is about 5.5 Celcius which is about what we get on a very cold winters morning... I find I can't take either extreme these days..
Hi EC thank you and yes I think the ACT is copping higher temps than me nearer the coast :(
