You just can't rush the clay...
I had this bead rack all made and ready to bisque fire...
But when I opened the kiln it was a mess -
The joins were a bit thick where I wanted the uprights supported and I guess they just were not fully dry. The water expands inside the clay and this can be the result...
Lesson learned.
On a brighter note the special project pieces are fine and will just need a good clean before glazing.

How frustrating for you!
I had a cone pack go off like a bomb in the first wood firing that I ever did, it was amazing just how far little fragments of clay would fly! In my case the fragments embedded themselves in the glaze samples I had put in the kiln.
Hi Peter
thanks for the understanding... a bit like learning to ride, you have to fall off a few times before you get it right. I must have known really as I put it on its own shelf 'just in case' so not the damage you experienced.
