too cold for the studio

The top temp today was about 12 degrees Celsius... too cold for my studio..

so I brought these into the kitchen and sat at the table and decorated...

I won't show you the results yet as they are hopefully for an exhibition and it is a surprise...

the tricky bit was finding a way to transfer my drawing onto the bisqued pots...

Google came up with an answer for me... after trying a couple of other ways this simple technique of using tissue paper to trace my design with a pencil then place the tissue on the pot and trace over with a felt tip pen.  The pen goes through the paper leaving a line to then follow to either finish off your drawing with ceramic pencils or fill in with underglazes..

I'll let you know how it goes after the firing and I'll post an invitation for you too...

you are getting cold and we are getting warmer here, I sometimes use a pen or pencil and trace over a drawing and it leaves an impression in the clay which I use as an outline but sometimes I don't want that impression I must try your technique.

Hi Linda yes we are getting cold and our houses are setup for the long hot summers so we feel the cold. I think I forgot to mention these pots are already bisqued so this technique works well.

Hi Anna,
Thanks for the useful information about transferring images onto bisqued clay. I hadn't thought of using a felt tip pen through tissue paper, and it sounds like a great solution. I have occasionally used old fashioned carbon paper under a drawing with mixed success, but the felt tip pen through tissue sounds much easier to do.

Brrrrrrr... I think we made it to a high of 8 degrees here today!

Hi Peter
I found it on a 'hobby ceramics' site... can't find the link again now. So simple and yet easy to do.

Yes, we are leaving our trip to the South Island until November :) too cold here and we got to 12 C yesterday.
